EMB2621HF
L0101
Offered in Summer 2010 · Previously offered in Summer 2009 · Toronto (St. George Campus) Site
This course will engage Jesus' parables as both first century texts and Christian scripture. Special attention will be paid to the social and economic scripts which the parables presuppose and the world(s) (new and not so new) which the parables attempt to realize. We will read the biblical text carefully, engage critically the questions of scholarship and aspire to foster careful and creative voices of interpretation. Lectures, small group discussion. Participation, summary papers and a final paper.
