Practicum in Preaching

This lectionary-based course is designed to give students experience in the practice of preaching. It will provide opportunities to engage a creative and disciplined encounter with the biblical text and to explore how we speak the tradition with language that is fresh, imaginative and empowering. Attention will be given to sermon construction, the person as preacher, performative action and contemporary preaching challenges. Prerequisite: basic course in Homiletics, or permission of the instructor.
