This course orients the incoming students to the DMin program, including introduction to its goals, dynamics, the theory and practice of collaborative learning, the establishment of both a collaborative learning group and a learning covenant, as well as, the development of an individual learning plan (ILP). Clarifying and sharpening the students’ research interest is central to the focus of this course. Note: coursework will continue online beginning in September 2011.

This course is focused on the elaboration of the DMin thesis proposal with a view toward helping the student gain the skill of writing their thesis proposal. This course will focus on the theological reflection and social and cultural analysis of the students’ respective contexts of ministry and research. The use of case studies and the students’ research data will assist students to gain the necessary analytical and interpretive skills to deal theologically with the data generated by their action-in-ministry.
