St. Augustine’s primary mission is preparing candidates for ordained priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church. St. Augustine’s also offers a program of formation for the Permanent Diaconate. Candidates prepare to serve in parish ministry.

These programs include: Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Religious Education, Conjoint Certificate in Theological Studies, Conjoint Certificate in Theology and Interreligious Engagement, Diploma in Theological Studies, and Diploma in Lay Ministry.

In 2022, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education established a Pontifical Faculty of Theology at St. Augustine’s, offering a Pontifical Baccalaureate of Sacred Theology and a two-year Licentiate Degree in Theology and Patristic Studies. All classes are offered on the main campus in Scarborough and at Alumni Hall at the University of St. Michael's College on the St. George campus of the University of Toronto.
